The City of Grenoble will also act on behalf of the City of Lyon and of the Rhone-Alpes Region, gathering the key players of Rhone-Alpes area in the field of medical devices. Rhone-Alpes area is a leader for bio-industries with 450 companies and 60000 jobs, well known for its medical, chemical, biotechnological research and industry. After Paris, Rhône-Alpes is the second leading French region for biomedical production. Next to the important public research centers, there is a wide range of private research centers and an important number of R&D departments of large-size companies, working in regional core sectors as the medical sector, drugs and chemistry, bio-medical, ICT, textile, environment etc.

The Directorate for Innovation within the Economic development department, that will be involved in this In-Jection project, plays a key role in the development of the area, providing support to large projects such as “Nanobio” and “Rhone-Alpes canceropole”. The Directorate for Innovation also has a key role in local networking between SMEs or start-up project holders and incubators or funding tools. This direction is also in charge of regional networking and built several project with the City of Lyon and the Rhone-Alpes Region in the field of innovation - elaboration of common tools in support to the creation of innovative SMEs, organization of common funding events and networking of key players at regional and international level.

It proved its experience on European projects, in particular in the frame of the PAXIS program within KREO TN1 & KREO TN2 and recently received an Award from the European Commission for its action in favor of innovation policies and best practices transfer.
